Hotel Review: Pullman Maamutaa Resort Maldives

The Pullman Maldives is the first all-inclusive property in the brand. Set amidst 18 hectares of lush tropical flora and fauna on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, the art and design experience here is fantastic, with buildings splashed with colours which pop against the ocean backdrop.

The main island part of the resort is set amidst a mini forest surrounding a central natural lake. Here the island is lined with palm trees that reach down to a pure white sand beach and extends out to fringing reef, caressed by lapping waves. Beachfront villas are scattered along this coastline, only slightly visible as they are tucked away in rainforest seclusion.

A golf buggy is used to get around the island or if you wish to hire a bike, a cycle is just as easy on the paths and boardwalks. Extending out into the ocean are the overwater villas where guests can enjoy endless views of the crystal-clear waters of the Maldives from their bed.

The Resort

You can do as much as you like or as little and just enjoy relaxing in this island paradise. The good thing is, depending how long you stay, activities such as jet-skis, spa treatments and scuba diving are also included.

There are many activities available on the island, ocean and under the ocean. Enjoy non-motorised water sports like kayaking, sailing and stand up paddle boarding. Jetskis are available to hire. A fully equipped dive shop means certified divers have a choice of dive sites, but you can also learn to dive on location. Snorkelling is available straight from the beach where you can see sea life such as turtles, rays, reef sharks and an array of fish visible around the shallows and shorelines of the island, or embark on a snorkelling safari off a remote island nearby.

On the island, there is bicycles rental, outdoor sports activities like volleyball, table tennis and a jogging track or for the slower paced there is billiards/snooker or darts. Guests looking for a bit more can sign up for a local arts and crafts class, marine conservation talk, or enjoy nature trail walks around the island with the resort’s resident marine biologist.

Pullman has a focus on well-being, around the four pillars of Sleep; Sport; Food; and Spa. Fitness enthusiasts can start at the resort’s Fit Trail island jogging track with five fitness stations offering a variety of physical trails; or level up with a complete boot-camp Raaveriya Workout experience that kick starts with calisthenics followed by an invigorating run on the beach and a refreshing swim in the lagoon. For complete restoration of the body, mind and soul, choose from a selection of signature facials, body treatments and massage therapies available at the resort’s Spa by Phytomer, which features eight treatment rooms perched over a shallow, white sand lagoon.

The all-inclusive resort boasts 122 decadent villas, including two exclusive Aqua Villas featuring bedrooms submerged beneath the turquoise waters for a truly memorable experience of the region’s marine life up close. The Royal Suite is a resort within a resort and provides complete privacy and indulgence including a high degree of personalized services. There is no need to want for anything in your room thanks to the all-inclusive aspect, so guests can enjoy a full stocked mini-bar that is replenished daily.

Ocean Pool Suite comes with a private pool overlooking the ocean, living room, ocean view, 42″ TV, furnished sala, minibar, Nespresso machine, 6 fixture bathroom, island tub, 2 vanity counters, shower cubicle, outdoor shower. There are a few Ocean Suites that are just as equipped, minus the pool.

Beach Villas are located amongst the gardens on the main island and offer views of the ocean and landscaped gardens, 42″ TV, WiFi, furnished sala, minibar, 6 fixture bathroom with an island tub, 2 vanity counters, shower cubicle and open air shower. These are ideal for families with young children as the water access is controlled. If you do want to add a pool, choose the Beach Pool Villa with all the inclusions of the Beach Villas, plus a pool.

For families or travelling groups, choose from a Family Beach Villa or Family Pool Villa, which offer more space.

At Pullman Maldives you are spoilt for choice on where to dine, snack and sip your days away. Mélange is the main restaurant, serving up a range of international foods. Choose from a wide variety of flavours at our all-day dining restaurant that features Arabic, Italian, French, Chinese and Indian cuisines. Here you can dine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Phat Chameleon embodies everything vegetarian in a cute sustainable garden setting. Phat Chameleon is a perfect setting for guests who want to experience a whole new approach to vegetarian food where local ingredients and indigenous flavors of the local islands can be savoured.

A hidden gem on the other side of the island Souq Oven serves up dinner inspired from the Middle Eastern and Levantine cuisines. It also has a wall of wine that houses over 80 labels that have been hand-picked from across the globe.

The Hub, Saffron Affair and Sol Rising are the bars scattered around the property. Each have their own unique flair, signature drinks and incredible views.
