Western Australia is renowned for the quality of its wines and produce, and each year that wonderful produce is celebrated with an 11-day event called Taste Great Southern.
After a shock hiatus last year, when the event was cancelled a week before its commencement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is back this year better than ever.
The Great Southern of Western Australia is located along the pristine southern coastline and expands into the mountains and forest ranges, including the major centres of Albany, Denmark, Mt Barker, Kojonup and Katanning.
Great Southern produce is fresh, seasonal and exceptional. Foods like oysters and seafood, chicken, beef and lamb, heirloom vegetables and cheeses all excel on the south coast. You can indulge in all the delicious fresh produce and amazing flavours at many of the events.
The award-winning wine, winemakers and breweries of the Great Southern will also feature across the program. Participants can expect to sip, taste and savour wine varietals such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Riesling, alongside craft beer made locally in the Great Southern.
Organisers have announced one of the most prestigious line-ups of WA-based chefs in the history of this State’s food and wine events.
More than 20 chefs, many of them with national reputations, along with some of the best in the State and across the Great Southern, will prepare outstanding meals that will be married with some of the brilliant wines of the region.
An added bonus this year is that a great number of musicians will perform in order to showcase the musical talent of the region.
The Great Southern is an outstandingly attractive region and truly worth visiting with its beaches, mountains, forests and truly wonderful towns. The festival will include long lunches, degustations, premium pairings, cocktail events, seafood celebrations, community markets and events at popular locations. Truly a festival to delight all of the senses.
