To reach Hue, located on the Perfume River, pass through the mountains from Danang and after 100km, you’ll discover the ancient walled and moated city, that was the national capital from 1802 -1945 and home to Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Encompassing the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and a replica of the Royal Theatre sit alongside palaces and shrines.
Hoi An is under 30km from Danang but a world of difference awaits.
