Arizona is absolute grandeur

It is possible to be overwhelmed when visiting Arizona.

The Grand Canyon is a great introduction to Arizona. It can easily fill you with awe as you experience one of the true natural wonders in the world. It’s a magnificent gorge that has been carved out over millions of years by the Colorado River and its tributaries. You can raft down it; ride a mule into it; helicopter through it; or view it from a platform that rides out over the rim, so that you can fully appreciate it.

Just about every major western film you’ve seen has been shot in Monument Valley, a sacred area that lies within the Navajo Nation lands. Solitary buttes rise from the plains. If you think this is what Arizona is all about, you’d be wrong.  For 27% of the state is forest, made up of pine, Douglas fir and spruce trees.

Parts of Arizona lie within desert regions. At Saguaro National Park in southeastern Arizona, you can enjoy the giant Saguaro cactus, which is native to the Sonoran Desert and can grow to over 12 metres in height.  To enjoy the environment at its best, amble along on horseback for a true western experience.

Speaking of western lore, everyone has heard about the Gunfight at the OK Corral.

That actually took place in the town of Tombstone, and doesn’t the name of that town conjure up images of gunfights?

The gunfight took place in 1881 between the Clanton Gang and the Earps – Virgil, Morgan and Wyatt, and their comrade Doc Watson.

You can experience that gunfight, which re-enacted even today.

Arizona is much more than grand scenery and ornery cowboys, there’s a great deal of sophistication about the state as well.

Phoenix is both the capital and largest city in Arizona. Called the Valley of the Sun, and located near the confluence of the Salt and Gila Rivers, it is a contemporary city that features both high rise and historic buildings. Here visitors can enjoy performing arts, great museums, fine arts, fantastic restaurants and an intriguing range of architecture, that is spearheaded by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright who lived in Phoenix for a while, where he established the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.

Arizona is a state where you will be intrigued by the friendly locals, overwhelmed by the magnificent scenery and delighted that you made the effort to visit a truly unique and remarkable place.
